Who Holds The Secret To Internet Marketing Success?

I started Internet Marketing nearly two years ago, and feel that I am starting to get myself established, with one successful product launch under my belt and another around the corner – not bad considering, at the time of writing this, I am some eight months away from my 21st birthday. To my mind there is a sustainable business model that underpins those who are successful in the Internet Marketing field – it’s not just luck (Cyber Monday web hosting deals). So if this is the case then why is the failure rate (anything from 95-99% depending on your choice of reading) so high?

It only takes a quick ten minute trawl around the web to know that it is awash with online ‘get rich quick’ money making schemes. I am sure you have seen them, they are pretty much based around the premise of easy cash for little effort. Truth is these either don’t work or are the first stage in a profit-making funnel designed to make you part with your money through the purchase of associated ‘must have’ products. Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with sales funnels, upsells etc. (I use them myself), but the main, front-end product must stand-alone as offering real value to the customer, otherwise how are you going to get return trade or establish yourself as a credible voice in the marketplace.

It is not surprising that people become disillusioned with Internet Marketing once they have had a few bad experiences with people promising success but not living up to their original billing. The truth of the matter is that, as far as I am aware, there is no quick route to success, and there is no internet marketer that is going to sell the model for $10 along with a bucket full of free bonuses.

There is money to be made out of Internet Marketing for sure, but it’s not easy money. It requires time and effort to pick the right niche, create strong products and build your list of subscribers, who are going to be responsive to what you sell or promote. In short, it needs to be treated as a serious business. The massive tick in the Internet Marketing box is that start-up costs are incredibly low, compared to other businesses. There is no stock to buy, premises to rent, staff to pay etc. If you have a computer and are prepared to make a small outlay on domain names, web hosting etc. you can be up and running… and that’s why so many find it to be particularly attractive and fall into the easy money trap.

Of course, not all Internet Marketers are bad. There are plenty of honest people operating in this field who have products and training schemes that are designed to help you. I have been extremely lucky and work with a great mentor, who has passed on all his knowledge from a dozen or so years being in the business.

So how do you find out what works and what doesn’t? The simple answer is research. Not the most of exciting of past times I know, but if you are investing your time, effort and cash into a business model it makes sense to want to understand the person you are looking to deal with. Carrying out your due diligence is really important. It is easy to seek out reviews on any product – the Warrior Forum is great for this, as it is full of uncompromising characters who pull no punches when offering an opinion.

Above all, before you purchase, or invest in the knowledge of an individual, question all of the information that is being presented to you. Think about the effort you are going to have to put in to produce results and the realistic financial return that you can expect for this. It is absolutely right to be cautious, as people can often present something to you in a way that does not represent the whole story… and that leads me to the answer to how you can knock down a brick wall with a spoon.

The answer to my question is that you hit the wall firmly anywhere with the spoon and the wall will fall down. Why, because it is only 5cm high and made of toy building bricks. The reason for this analogy is to make the point that it is easy to give the reader selected information so that they naturally draw the wrong conclusion. So long as you approach any new venture with your eyes wide open and with time spent on research to back up your decision you can start your journey in a confident mood.
